Transfers: Ins, Outs And The Rumour Mill - Part 4

With the season rapidly drawing to a close (hold back those tears) riders are still looking to secure their futures. Many will already have deals done but announcements are unlikely to be made until racing comes to a finish as a mark of respect for their old teams, for others this isn't such an issue and some have already finished racing for the season so can talk openly about contractual affairs. So here is part 4 with all the latest movers and shakers. (See here for Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3).

Confirmed Movers
  • Gianluca Brambila (Colnago-CSF Bardiani) to Omega Pharma-Quick-Step
  • Alessandro Petachi (Lampre) to Farnese Vini - Selle Italia
  • Fabio Taborre (Acqua & Sapone) to Farnese Vini - Selle Italia
  • Francesco Chicchi (Omega Pharma-Quick-Step) to Farnese Vini - Selle Italia
  • Dario Cataldo (Omega Pharma-Quick-Step) to Sky
  • Oliver Zaugg (RSNT) to Saxobank-Tinkoff Bank
  • David Lopez (Movistar) to Sky
  • David Tanner (Saxobank-Tinkoff Bank) to Rabobank
  • Robert Wagner (RSNT) to Rabobank
  • Alexander Kolobnev (Katusha) to Saxobank-Tinkoff bank
  • Marzio Bruseghin (Movistar) to Saxobank-Tinkoff bank
Renewals
  • Thomas Dekker stays with Garmin-Sharp
  • Giacomo Nizzolo stays with Radioshack-Nissan Trek (RSNT)
  • Yaroslav Popovych stays with RSNT
The Rumour Mill
  • Jack Bobridge (Orica-GreenEDGE) to Rabobank
  • Fabian Weggman (Garmin-Sharp) to Katusha
  • Mark Cavendish (Sky) to Omega Pharma-Quick-Step

Ive tried to stick to the bigger names, obviously there are plenty of others moving around in the transfer market but far to many small names to go into finer details with. Some other key points worth a mention though:
  • Rumours still persistent that Cavendish will move on next year, most likely to Omega-Pharma but any actual contractual talk will not be revealed until after the World Championships is my guess.
  • Jon Tiernan-Locke has signed a letter of intent for Sky which means that looks to be an almost certain goer - a close source says that the deal has already been done.
  • Rumours that Endura Racing would hook up with Netapp look pretty solid now
  • Team Sky are dumping kit manufacturer Addidas in favour of British indie 'Rapha' though again until the new year it is unlikely we will get a look at the new kit.
  • Liquigas-Cannondale will have a change of name next year following the withdrawal of sponsorship from Liquigas. They will ride next year as 'Brixia Sport'.
The fun and games continue....
